REWARDS CALENDARS

Don't your kids just love Chuck E Cheese?

I've found a way for me to ENJOY Chuck E Cheese as well:
Go as soon as they open at 9am on a weekday.
Really, it's enjoyable.
And if you can make it on a Monday, even better!!

I've recently discovered that kids can get 10 free tokens when you help them complete a rewards calendar.  It's simple:

1.  Follow this link and print out a Chuck E Cheese Rewards Calendar
2.  Complete the calendar or task
3.  Turn in the completed calendar at Chuck E Cheese for 10 free tokens.

There are 15+ calendars from which to choose:
Good Sleeping
Brushing Teeth
Not Sucking your Thumb
Getting Dressed
Reading
Sleeping
Good Eater
Good Listener
There is even a "No Nose Picking" Calendar.  Awesome.

And here is another tip:
Print "Every Day Coupons" before you go.

Follow this link and print coupons for the specific location, and print out the every day coupons.

No need to spend any more money than necessary.

Star Wars™ MINILAND at LEGOLAND® Discovery Center

This weekend a new attractions opens at LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Dallas Fort Worth: The new Star Wars™ MINILAND Model Display Episode IV.

Never did I think I would know this much about Lego OR Star Wars...ever!
But as a mom of boys, I have grown to at least like Star Wars.
Well, episodes 4,5 and 6, anyway.
A little.

Today we went early to check out the new display, and we were greeted by several Stormtroopers, Queen Amidala, Asajj Ventress, and couple Jedi Knights.   This was exciting even for me - I thought the Stormtroopers were really cool.  They were able to talk to us with that same electronic voice that they have in the movie, and actually they were pretty funny.  Perhaps I have crossed over to the dark and nerdy side just a little?
Possibly.

So the new attraction, in my opinion, is a very nice addition to LEGOLAND® Discovery Center.  Is it worth a special trip just to see it?  Probably not.

The Episode IV Model is impressive, but with their track record of quality, Lego has driven our expectations sky high.  ThStar Wars™ room was much smaller than I expected.  There are impressive displays in there, but just not as many as I had hoped.  The Cantina scene was probably my favorite, and I also liked the representation of the scene where Obi-Wan says " these are not the droids you're looking for..."
Oh no, I feel my dark and nerdy side may be showing again.

Worth a special trip? I think not, unless you go this weekend and have the opportunity to interact with the Star Wars™ characters.  As you can see in the photos below, we arrived  earlier than the average visitor on Saturday morning, so the Stormtroopers were enjoying building and racing Lego cars with my kids.  Just Priceless!!

And speaking of prices,
Here are the current ticket prices:
TypeWalk-up price (+ tax)Online price (+ tax)
Child (0-2)$free
Child (3-12)$15.00
Adult (13+)$19.00

Watch for specials on Annual Passes.  We purchased ours in November 2012 for $100.00 plus tax for a family 4-pack.  Now that is a great deal!  It will expire in November 2013.  I'll keep you posted when deals on annual passes arise again.

It is such a great place for kids and families to invest their free time!

The rules are easy to follow, and kids have the opportunity to earn a free book when they read 8 books over the summer.  Here's how it works:
  1. Visit the Barnes and Noble summer reading program site to download and print the reading journal.
  2. Fill out the information as your kids read 8 books.
  3. Bring the completed reading journal, signed by a parent, to your local Barnes and Noble book store between May 21, 2013 and September 3, 2013.  Present it to an employee and they will allow your child to choose a book from the free book list.

Trampoline Park or Bounce House?

I love using  a Groupon to try something new.  This week the boys and I checked out Urban Air Trampoline Park in Southlake.

I found Urban Air to be clean, friendly, and well managed.  There were plenty of employees around encouraging kids to be safe.  They sold reasonably priced snacks and drinks, and the music was the kind of tune to which you could jump, or shake your tail feathers.  Ahh, an oldie but a goodie they played on Tuesday had my kids dancing and singing along.
The Foam Pit was a hit with my kiddos, as was Ultimate Dodge Ball; they are totally not old enough to play dodge ball there with young teens, but they gave it a brief try.  They were a little bored in the Kid Zone (7 and under ) My boys just turned 6, and I think that mine prefer the variety of choices available at the bounce houses.  I’m sure this is not the case with all 6 year olds, but a perfect time to use a Groupon and see how your kids do!

The Kid Zone (7 and under) is a great idea for little ones, and Toddler Jump Time seems to be a great value:
Wednesdays 10am – 12 noon
Fridays 10am – 12 noon
Cost: $5 per child, parents jump Free!
If my family could participate in Toddler Jump Time, or hang with the bigger kids playing dodge ball, I bet we would frequent Urban Air.  For now I feel like we are lost in the shuffle, so you are more likely to find us at the bounce house.

 What about your kids?
